Demonstrations have been concentrated in the center of Bucharest, the Romanian capital, to protest against the government they accuse of "Government of thieves" Between shouts of "Government of thieves", "Resignation" and "The diaspora is at home because they care", protesters, mostly residents abroad, have called for the resignation of the Government of the Social Democratic Party (PSD) by the corruption and the famine of life. According to local press, the last demonstration held this weekend has brought together between 30,000 and 50,000 people. The confrontation, in which the Police have used tear gas and protesters have thrown blunt objects such as stones or bottles, has been triggered when some of the protesters tried to overcome the police cordon that protected the government headquarters. Many Romanians living in countries such as Germany, France, Italy and Spain have moved to Bucharest to participate in the protest, and visit the family for summer vacations. Similar protests were also held in cities such as Cluj-Napoca, Timisoara, Sibiu and Iasi, among others. Around three and a half million Romanians, from a population of 20 million, currently work abroad and send more than 4,000 million euros in remittances, according to the authorities.
